Proof that you can’t just hit all the auto enthusiast checkboxes (hatchback, manual, diesel) and expect them to buy you, because they still hate that you’re not RWD/not fun to drive/a new car/other excuses. I’d say you’ll be missed, but I don’t know if you’ll even be remembered. (Although apparently it’s made in a place that isn’t getting shut down, so who knows! Maybe it’ll hang around?)

They just needed a hot version. It didnt even need to be the fastest as long as it drove really well.
It’s a shame it’s going away, but I probably wouldn’t have bought one anyway. More just generally sad that small cars are disappearing. :(

I’ve had one as a rental car and I just couldn’t believe it was a Chevy. It was the equal to a Mazda 3 or civic.

He really hit the nail on the head with that article.

Wow, that's high praise!

The Cruze hatch is made in Mexico, so it didn’t seem to be affected by GM’s upcoming closures.
And fuck GM for not letting you get that diesel manual hatch with a sunroof.

Ha I still wouldn’t buy one. 10/10 would still get a Mazda 3.

Ah, I thought it was also getting nixed in the reshuffling.

I think that production is being switched to the new Blazer.

And therein lies the problem. “It’s as good as its competitors, but I still wouldn’t buy one.”

It might still get dropped, or maybe all Cruze production may be moved to Mexico.
Everything
is still a crapshoot at this stage

That man’s wisdom is unparalleled. He is the Yoda of car buying .

I was skeptical about it, but after sitting in one I was pleasantly surprised. If we were in the market for a smaller car, you could do far worse. It forced the question "Why is the sedan being produced?"

A lot of GM products are good, in a vacuum .

You have a different definition of all than most people do. Or is that all people?

Meh, you get the idea. You can have fun in anything. You’ve got me on the RWD though.

It reminds me of a Opel Astra OPC/GTC somewhat....

A 3 is high on my list of next new purchase in the next few years.

The 2018 hatch I drove this spring was very nice. My 2006 3 feels like a model t by comparison.

W e loved my wife's '06 3. Only replaced it with a CX-5 because kid #2 was on the way. But now we're done with rear facing car seats, and my wife misses her 3 dearly.

It might be.
Speaking of that new
Blazer, GM should’ve just given us the international Trailblazer (made in Thailand and Brazil)

The diesel Cruze was s’posed to sweep up all of the VW TDI customers after they sold their cars back to VW.
That didn’t happen, obviously. I dunno where they all went.

I’d theorize they went back and bought gasoline Golfs or Jettas because they rather buy from the same cheating company again rather than be c aught dead in a Chevy.

The Cruze uses the platform of the current Astra so you are not wrong.
